Obama Comes to Harlem
Before the fund-raiser and the later reception for supporters at the Studio Musuem in Harlem, Mr. Obama accompanied Michael R. Bloomberg to the New York City Science and Engineering Fair at the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life at the Natural History Museum. He later joined former President Bill Clinton to address an audience that included many African-Americans at the dedication of the new 26-story headquarters of the United States mission at the United Nations, which is named for Ronald H. Brown, the first African-American commerce secretary. Mr. Brown, who served in the Clinton administration, was killed in a plane crash nearly 15 years ago while on a trade mission to the Balkans.

In Harlem, a party-like atmosphere reigned outside the Red Rooster Harlem on Tuesday even as metal barriers lined the streets, extra police cars rolled through the area and helicopters hovered above in preparation of President Barack Obama's arrival.

The Street filled with energy as the afternoon progressed. The avenues were lined with Obama supporters, reporters and curious passersby.

Crowds who had waited at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue behind metal barriers for hours began cheering when they saw the motorcade emerge from the tent. They screamed even louder when Obama's limousine passed led by a full police motorcade.

Around 8:30 p.m., Obama was in the presidential limousine and heading just half an avenue away to an invitation-only "Thank You" reception at the Studio Musuem in Harlem.
Attendees contributed $30,800 each to attend the fundraiser. The Menu consisted of Short ribs and cornbread among other delicious dishes. All went well with Obama's visit to Harlem. The fundraiser was a success and raised approximately 1.5 Million dollars.
