Old-style jazz is alive and well at Showman’s , One of Harlem's premier jazz clubs and a cultural landmark, Showman’s has been a part of Harlem's history since 1942. Showman’s signature mark of a top hat and cane is etched into the minds and hearts of many, as well as the frosted glass of its front door and mirror behind the bar, standing as an iconic reminder of a legendary age of jazz.
A big hit with jazz enthusiasts Showman’s Jazz Club offers live entertainment nightly and has a fine history of showcasing legendary artists including Pearl Bailey, Eartha Kitt, Jimmy Rogers, Sarah Vaughan, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Grady Tate, Jimmy The Preacher Robins and more. In addition Showman’s strongly features a wealth of contemporary favorites including, Jerry Weldon (former lead tenor player with Lionel Hampton and now with Harry Connick Jr.,) Joey Morant, John Simon and Ray Schinnery. Cameo appearances have also been made by artists Bill Doggett (The father of honky tonk,) The Copasetics with hoofer Honi Cole, Gloria Lynne, Ruth Brown, Chaka Khan, Jack McDuff, Ashford & Simpson, Seleno Clarke and George Benson.
